LaMarr Williamson Scholarship
LaMarr Williamson LaMarr Williamson created beautiful hand-painted backgrounds for studio photographers for over thirty years. His work during that time has had a significant impact on the look of studio portraiture throughout the United States. LaMarr has been associated, as an instructor with California Photographic Workshops and its staff.
Over the years that LaMarr taught Background Painting at California Photographic Workshops, many photographers have had the honor of being in his company. Those of us who were will never be the same. This man of uncommon grace and integrity, seasoned with the sweetest southern charm, was a favorite instructor at our school; we all looked forward each year to his humor and the genuine warmth he spread wherever he went. After a valiant 3-year battle with cancer, Lamarr has retired to a place we can visit only with our hearts.
This scholarship was established by the Board of Directors of California Photographic Workshops in memory of this friend of photographers everywhere. The scholarship is for tuition and the current session of California Photographic Workshops. It's awarded by selection from applications submitted to the Scholarship Committee.
